Course Requirements

The requirements below apply to students entering 9th grade in August 1997 and after.

 Language Arts CPC: 4 units acad or above
Tech: 4 units any LA
 Science CPC: Bio., Chem., Physics
Tech: 3 units (Tech Biology, Tech Chemistry, Principal of Tech.)
 Social Studies CPC & Tech: 1 unit World History,
1 unit U.S. History,
½ unit Econ.,
½ unit Political Science
 Foreign Language CPC: 2 units of same language
Tech: no requirement
 Math CPC: 4 units through Adv. Alg. & Trig.,
(Pre-Cal.,   AP Calculus or AP Stat.)
Tech: *3 units at least Alg. I or equiv.
(Alg I plus 2 other math credits or Problem Solving, Concepts of  Algebra plus 1 other math credit)
 PE/Health CPC & Tech: ½ unit in PE 101 and ½ unit in Health
Fine Arts,
Business, 
Computer,
Tech, 
ROTC, or F.L.
CPC: 1 unit in any combination/
can include 3rd F.L.
Tech: 1 unit in any combination/
can include any F.L.
 Technical Electives CPC:  none required
Tech:  4 units total,
3 units in one area and

 Tests All 5 sections of the GA. High School Graduation Test must be passed as well as all 4 sections of the Gwinnett Gateway Examination.

Graduation Options

There are 3 graduation options. There is no general diploma.

  1. CPC = College Prep Curriculum
  2. Tech = Technical Diploma (Click here for technical concentration options.)
  3. Dual Diploma = Students must meet all requirements for both College Prep and Technical Diplomas.

Promotion Requirements

 Graduation Requirements  22 units (one class / semester = ½ unit)

 Promotion Requirements for students entering 9th grade 2005 and before

 To 10th – 5 units
To 11th – 11 units

To earn a Diploma with Distinction:

A student must maintain an 80 or above core average and earn 24 units.

Either: For the College Prep. Diploma with Distinction Seal, the additional 2 units required must be in the areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language, or Fine Arts.

Or: For the Technical Diploma with Distinction Seal, one of the two units must be in the area of Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language, or Fine Arts.

Beginning Fall 2008, there will be only one diploma.

Two (2) credits of the same modern/classical language are required for university admissions in the state of Georgia.
