Guided Study
Every Brookwood student is assigned to a Guided Study class. The small group setting of the Guided Study half-period not only serves as a Homeroom and Advisement period, but also allows students to
- Complete homework
- Read
- Request access to the Media Center or classroom computer
- Request to see a teacher for makeup work or additional help
Tutoring
Lists of available tutors (both adult and student) for hire before or after school or on weekends can be picked up the Counseling Office, Room A-1. Additionally, some students are willing to tutor peers free of charge (for club service hours) before or after school or during Guided Study.

Academic Intervention
Academic Intervention provides time during the school day for failing students to receive cross-age tutoring in a quiet, structured environment. Students in this program are required to attend during extended lunch.
The Freshman Academy
Afternoon Academy for Freshmen is a free tutoring opportunity in the areas of Math and Biology. The program will begin on Monday, August 25th and continue for the reminder of the year. This program is in F-1 Monday through Thursday from 2:30 - 3:30. There will a certified teacher and selected senior tutors to work with the freshmen. Monday and Wednesday are for Math, while Tuesday and Thursday will be Biology days.
No appointment is necessary - Just bring the work you need help with and take advantage of this opportunity!!
Brookwood Pullout Intervention Program
Standardized tests– Students who have been unsuccessful with certain areas of the Georgia High School Graduation Test or the Gateway Test are assigned to 4 or 5 day intervention session during their Guided Study half-period. In addition, some afternoon intervention sessions are available prior to standardized retests.

Algebra 2 Academy
The Algebra 2 Summer Academy is a one-week workshop designed to give students who are taking Algebra 2 in the Fall a review of the basics of Algebra I and a jump start into the new year. The course is available for a fee.
