FAQs
What does the money pay for?
We have two parking attendants on campus for your convenience and security. Mr. Hay and Mr. Torres control traffic flow in the parking lot. They also provide security for you and your vehicle. If you ever have a problem with anything in the parking lot, you can always tell Ms Campbell. Her office is in A36. Your problem might be something simple like you don’t understand how to find your parking spot. Or, your problem might be something like the guy who parks next to you makes rude comments.
How are parking spots issued?
Parking is given out to the top 50 seniors first. Next we park ROTC, Joint Enrollment, Grayson and Work program students, CBE, Quest, Peer Leaders, and Careers in Education. If you are involved in any of these programs and do not meet eligibility requirements, you are not guaranteed a spot. After students in those programs are issued spots, the remaining spots are given out on a lottery basis.

What do I do if I get a new car or need to drive another car during the year?
Come see Ms. Campbell in A36. There is a simple form you can fill out to let her know that a different car will be in you spot. You will also need to provide a new insurance card stating you have insurance of the new vehicle. You can not drive the car on campus without being able to provide this.
Ways you can lose your spot:
Your parking decal will be taken away from you if you no longer meet eligibility requirements. For example, let’s say you fail Language Arts at the end of the 2012 fall semester. When you return in January, we will ask for your parking decal to be turned into the office. The same is true if you are suspended out of school or get too many Taps. It doesn’t matter if you are in a program that requires you to have a spot. Another way to lose your spot is to give your decal to a friend. Your parking spot is only for you and your vehicle. If you lose your parking spot, you do not get a refund. Remember that the parking lot is school property. Nothing is allowed in your car that is not allowed at school. For example, you can’t have a lighter, a toy gun, an empty beer can or any other item that is banned from school in your car. We have the right to search your vehicle if it is parked on campus. Also, don’t leave anything valuable in your car. The school is not responsible for items left in your car.
What happens if someone parks in my spot?
The parking attendants are there to protect the spot you buy from us. If another car is in your spot when you get to school, you should park in a visitors’ spot, then you should come to A36 and let Ms. Campbell know someone is in your spot. That car will be ticketed. The same thing will happen to you if you get in another person’s spot.
Behavior in the parking lot:
The speed limit in the parking lot is 10 mph. Tickets are issued for speeding. We expect that you will use common sense in the parking lot. No loud radios. No squealing tires. Don’t let your friends hang out in the bed of your pick-up. Don’t mess with anyone else’s car. If you fail to follow the rules of the parking lot, your parking spot may be taken away.
What is the next step?
Listen carefully so you can complete the application correctly. You need to fill out the information at the top. You need your parent to sign it at the bottom. You need a check for $70 made out to Brookwood High School or the confirmation receipt where you paid online. Also, you need a copy of your license and insurance cards. If you do not have a license yet but will receive it during the 2012-2013 school year, give us a copy of your learners permit and we will hold a spot for you until you get your license. You must put a sticky note on the top of your application stating that this is your permit. Bring these items to Ms. Campbell in A36 before or after school. Applications will ONLY be accepted if they are completed with all info attached. The deadline to turn in applications is May 23th. After that date no applications will be accepted.
To find out if you got a spot come to the parking table located in the Maroon gym Lobby on August 2nd. If you receive a parking spot you must have your decal on you car by the 1st day of school. If you do not have your decal on your car, you will receive a ticket. If at anytime during the school year you change to a different car you must remove your decal from the old car and put it on the new car. We are unable to supply you with a new decal.
If you have any questions at all about parking, please see Ms Campbell in A36.
