Guided Study
Every Brookwood student is assigned to a Guided Study class.  The small group setting of the Guided Study half-period not only serves as a Homeroom and Advisement period, but also allows students to
  • Complete homework
  • Read
  • Request access to the Media Center or classroom computer
  • Request to see a teacher for makeup work or additional help
Lists of available tutors (both adult and student) for hire before or after school or on weekends can be picked up the Counseling Office, Room A-1.  Additionally, some students are willing to tutor peers free of charge (for club service hours) before or after school or during Guided Study.

Academic Intervention

Academic intervention provides time during the school day for failing students to receive cross-age tutoring in a quiet, structured environment. students in this program are required to attend during extended lunch. Look under the Academic Intervention tab in the menu in this Resource section.

The Freshman Academy
The Freshman Academy is a free tutoring opportunity for 9th grade students who need extra assistance in the areas of Language Arts, Math, and Science. This program is located in the Gold Gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays during 4th, 5th, and 6th periods. There will be certified teachers and selected peer tutors to work with the freshmen.

In order to attend Freshman Academy, please have your student sign up on the Brookwood High School webpage, or they may sign up on their eClass page. This registration helps to ensure the proper tutors are available to assist your child.
