Brookwood High School has been the Science Olympiad State Champion since 2011.  In March 2018, the team won its eighth consecutive state title, and in May of the same year. In January 2018, BHS won the Brookwood Invitational Science Olympiad Tournament for the eighth time. Brookwood is the only school to have ever won the invitational, the state's largest high school Science Olympiad event. In February 2018, BHS SO earned its ninth consecutive region title.

The team's mission is to prepare students to compete in invitational, regional, state and national Science Olympiad Competitions while exploring the various fields of science. We plan to compete in invitational, regional, state and national Science Olympiad competitions. Brookwood Science Olympiad is a member of the Georgia Science Olympiad and National Science Olympiad organizations.

Science Olympiad is a 23-event competition that includes events in areas of construction, physics, chemistry, forensics, earth science, rocketry, etc. The Science Olympiad team prepares for this competition by learning content, designing, engineering, and constructing. BHS's Science Olympiad team is sponsored by Brookwood teachers Joe Cox and Jorge Diaz.

Science Olympiad members are divided into two smaller clubs: Science Olympiad and Science Bowl.

Science Bowl is game-show type competition with science and math related questions. This club meets weekly to learn content and participate in simulated games in preparation for several tournaments throughout the year.
